FLEABAG bags six awards at the 71st Emmy Awards Ceremony!

23 September 2019

The 71st Emmy Awards Ceremony, held last night in Los Angeles, California, saw series two of Fleabag win an incredible six Awards in total out of it’s 11 nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series; Outstanding Writer For Comedy Series, Phoebe Waller Bridge; Lead Actress In A Comedy Series, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Outstanding Director For A Comedy Series, Harry Bradbeer. The Awards for Outstanding Casting For A Comedy Series and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Comedy Series were won during the 71st Creative Arts Emmy Awards Ceremony on September 14th.

Phoebe Waller Bridge’s multi award-winning six-part comedy series, detailing the life of anti-heroine Fleabag, was produced by Two Brothers Pictures for the BBC and Amazon. Joyful, bleak, poignant and sucker punch funny, the acclaimed series features a star-studded cast, including Olivia Colman, Andrew Scott, Sian Clifford, Bill Paterson, Brett Gelman and guest stars, Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Shaw.

Written, executive produced by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the series was directed by Harry Bradbeer and produced by Sarah Hammond (Back To Life, Liar, Urban Myths). Fleabag was executive produced by Two Brothers Pictures’ Harry and Jack Williams (Baptiste, The Widow, The Missing), Lydia Hampson, Harry Bradbeer and Joe Lewis.

Harry & Jack Williams, Writers and Managing Directors and Sarah Hammond, Executive Producer said; “We are beyond thrilled that Fleabag picked up Awards this evening – especially for Phoebe and Harry. Although it was one of the funniest scripts we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, Fleabag is also one of the most romantic, heart-breaking, smart and devastating programmes on television; which only proves the genius of Phoebe and the phenomenal cast.

Phoebe is a fearless, unique and extraordinary talent and we knew Fleabag was something special from the very first time we saw the original stage play. For the second series to have been recognised at the Emmy Awards this year is a monumental event and it’s wonderful to be part of the love story that is Fleabag. The opportunity to take her words and turn them into something that resonates so fiercely with audiences across the world, has been a complete joy. The cast, crew and partners we’ve worked with along the way are the best in the business and we are just thrilled to see everyone’s hard work recognised.”

Fleabag series one hit UK screens on BBC Three in July 2016, before being released on Amazon in September that year. Series Two aired on BBC Three & BBC One in March 2019 and Amazon in May 2019.

2019 stellar year for Two Brothers – BAPTISTE, CHEAT and FLEABAG

14 March 2019

2019 has already been a stellar year for Two Brothers – with three shows airing simultaneously within the first three months of 2019. BBC One thriller Baptiste penned by Jack and Harry Williams, sees the welcome return of The Missing fan favourite Tchéky Karyo as detective Julien Baptiste. ITV’s new four part thriller series Cheat by Gaby Hull, starring Katherine Kelly & Molly Windsor. And the sensational return of Phoebe-Waller Bridge’s Fleabag to BBC Three and BBC One.

Baptiste is a thrilling six-part drama set in the murky underworld of Amsterdam. Tchéky Karyo reprises his role as the insightful but stubborn French investigator Julien Baptiste. Baptiste is a nail-biting ride full of twists and turns where nothing and nobody are as they first seem. The Night Manager and Bird Box star Tom Hollander and Call the Midwife’s Jessica Raine, head up the stellar cast of a series the critics are calling “taut and compelling” with “the air of a graphic novel”. The final episode airs on BBC One, 9pm on Sunday 24th March.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Bafta-winning BBC comedy Fleabag is back on our screens for a second series. Joyful, bleak, poignant and sucker-punch funny, the original cast including Sian Clifford and Oscar winner Olivia Colman, are joined by a host of new characters including Kristin Scott Thomas, Fiona Shaw and Andrew Scott. The eponymous Fleabag returns in ep one, joining an uncomfortable family dinner to celebrate Godmother and Dad’s engagement. Alongside familiar faces – uptight sister Claire, and her alcoholic husband Martin, Fleabag find herself intrigued by Godmother’s new Priest. The evening comes to a tempestuous end however, when an unexpected attack brings old tensions bubbling to the surface. With five star reviews across the board, Fleabag Series Two is not to be missed –  episodes are online Mondays from 10am on BBC Three and air that same evening on BBC One at 10:35pm until the final ep on April 8th.

The four-part mini-series Cheat written Gaby Hull has been unfolding on ITV this week with the final episode airing at 9pm on Thursday 14th March. At the heart of the drama is the dangerous relationship between university professor Leah (Katherine Kelly), and her student Rose (Molly Windsor), when, what begins as a seemingly open and shut case of academic deception, quickly spirals out of control, ending in fatal consequences, and triggering a devastating sequence of events that threaten to engulf them both.

And there’s more excitement to come from the Two Brothers team this year when Harry & Jack’s new thriller The Widow starring Kate Beckinsale comes to ITV & Amazon, alongside brand new 6 part comedy series Back to Life written by Daisy Haggard and Laura Solon for BBC Three.
